Proposed Village Hall, Scratby, Norfolk

Owen
Bond Partnership have been engaged by Ormesby St. Margaret with Scratby
Parish Council after they highlighted inadequacy of their existing
facilities. They had already received outline planning permission
for a new village hall on the site prior to engaging our services
to develop the scheme and gain full planning consent.
The site for the proposed village hall was in an agricultural setting
with residential properties nearby so the appearance of the building
and the materials used needed to fit in and compliment its surroundings.
The tradition in agricultural communities of using large farm buildings
for community meetings was the basis of our design with the form and
materials adopting a barn like appearance. The village hall includes
a main hall for assembly and indoor sports, a kitchen to service the
meeting and function rooms and an office for the Parish Council. The
large windows to the front and rear elevations were designed to maximise
natural light. The layout of the new hall was carefully considered
to allow for flexibility of the space, to maximise the efficiency
of the facility and services within.
Owen Bond Partnership has provided the client with a scheme that fulfilled
their aims and requirements. Planning permission was granted for the
new village hall in April 2010.
